AXIA Learning Alliance
AXIA News
The Axia Learning Alliance is a formal partnership in the form of a mutual Co-operative Membership Trust and consists of a strong family of inspiring schools that serve their local communities and contribute fully to the provision of education in their area and collaborate with other partners to achieve common goals.
‘Collaboration, Innovation, Community’
Our membership of the Co-operative underpins the Alliance’s commitment to strengthen the schools and its links to the local community through the Co-operative’s values, which are:
Self-help, Self-responsibility, Democracy equality, equity and solidarity, Honesty, Openness, Social responsibility, and Caring for others.
Forest Schools: Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. All schools have had staff complete their Level 2 or 3 training and are running sessions for children in our settings.
Peer Review: Schools are now working in house with staff to respond to areas of consideration. Training has been arranged and staff are making adaptations wherever needed. This will be evaluated in the summer term.
Focus Groups: Our focus groups are; EYFS, SEND, & STEM. Staff in these groups meet each half term to share good practice, share CPD opportunities and provide general support to improve opportunities for our children.
I’m a Clever Writer: Training and support is continuing with staff this term at Lostock Hall CPS, Tarleton CPS & New Longton All Saints C of E PS.
Forward First: We are working with 4 schools from Skelmersdale to provide an offer to complete a PGCE with specialisms in Primary Ed, Early Years or PE. This course is in collaboration with Edge Hill. ITT’s will be allocated two placements across the year (from out of the nine schools). For more information please visit: https://forwardfirst.co.uk/
UCLan: We have been working with UCLan to develop a professional development programme for our staff. We have some exciting opportunities for us to be involved in to enhance staff development and well-being.
